The defense expenditure of the permanent members of the Security Council are as follows: the United States: $513 billion, China $67.5 billion, France: $45 billion, England: $42.8 billion, and Russia: $23 billion. Israel has a defense spending of $9.1 billion with a population of only four million, while India with a population of over one billion has a defense spending of $19 billion. North Korea’s defense spending is $5.2 billion (almost half the cost of building an aircraft carrier), while Iran’s spending is $4.3 billion (a bit more than the cost of producing a DDX destroyer); Cuba’s defense spending is $0.6 billion.
